Most folks with a camera at the mermaid parade were obsessed with taking photos of all the hot, hot scantily-clad gals. Since I'm lucky enough to see plenty of those on a regular basis, I was much more interested in documenting that elusive yet fascinating creature: those who go to the mermaid parade because they're obsessed with taking photos of all the hot, hot scantily-clad gals.

All good topics for discussion. Instead, I will post pictures of two new residents of the Central Park Zoo: Brody the Porcupine and Herbie the Harbor Seal.

Though some may question the wisdom of having a porcupine in a petting zoo, the fact remains that Brody is painfully cute. Guineafowl didn't think so, but what to they know? Here he is just a short time after he was introduced to his habitat.

Herbie, on the other hand, has been in his habitat for more than a week, and is getting along with everyone, including the crochety old sea lions.

Another round of semi-out-of-focus pix from the Central Park Zoo... including some shots of the day-old Colobus Monkey! Take that, Dick Cheney!

The entire colobus family group helps care for the newborn... here, "aunt" Tana holds the baby (that white patch of fur in the with arms and legs) while mom (Mac) looks on nervously. Dad's name: Metal Man.

Too little for holding: Mom took the baby back.

Bella, the new Red Panda girl, is now out and about on a daily basis. Today, she discovered and discomfited the geese with whom she shares a habitat.
